Hello! I’m Dr. Mawhorter and I started Line Street Veterinary Hospital in 1991 after spending nine years in a mixed animal practice in Albion, Indiana. I purchased the old, brick house on Line Street and for five years practiced mixed animal medicine before focusing strictly on small animal in 1996. In May of 2000 I opened the new hospital on the same site.
My dream was to run a high quality small animal hospital with superior service and a well trained, friendly staff. The hospital became AAHA accredited in 2001 and continues to strive toward these goals today.
I am a native of Noble County, Indiana and a 1974 graduate from Central Noble High School. After high school I attended the University of Notre Dame and graduated in 1978 with a BS in Biology. I then went on to Purdue University’s School of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 1982 with my DVM degree.
I met my wife, Rita, while I was in veterinary school and we married in 1983. We have three children, Scott, born in 1987, Kara, born in 1990, and Karlee, born in 1993. I enjoy spending time with my family, watching Notre Dame football, reading and spending time with my dogs, Max and Marley.
